See Blackboard supported browsers for more information. Blackboard and Campus Connection Grades Integration Blackboard and Campus Connection grades integration is now available. View the instructions posted under What's New below. Courses/Orgs Resources/Tutorials What's New Known Issues Courses/Orgs Blackboard Request Form The Blackboard Request Form ( This form does not work with Internet Explorer ) may be used to add and remove users from a course, merge multiple sections, import content, and request an under development site. Requests are usually processed within 2 business days. Courses Course Creation & Enrollment Blackboard sites are created approximately 110 days before the course start date as listed in Campus Connection. If an instructor would like to combine sections of their course or would like an under development site, they would need to submit a request using the Blackboard Request Form. Additionally, course sites are populated with users based on information verified in Campus Connection: Instructor and Students. Other users added to course sites are received through requests by the instructor of the course using the Blackboard Request Form. Undergraduate Teaching Assistant (UTA) Roles in Blackboard Two Blackboard roles have been created to provide access to UTAs. College/departments must decide, based upon their requirements which type of role is being used. Department Chair approvals are required for all UTA requests. UTA-Grader role provides access to all of the same tools the instructor and teaching assistant have in the course. This includes posting content, grading, participating in discussions, blogs, wikis and all student interactions. UTA-Builder role provides access to all tools the course builder has in the course. This includes posting content and sending announcements. This role does NOT provide access to grading or any student interactions. To add an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant to a course, please submit the UTA Request Form . Please note that you will be prompted to log in. Course Availability To allow for editing and content upload prior to each semester, Blackboard course sites are not made available to students by default. Each instructor is able to make a course available, when the Bb site is ready for students to access. In Blackboard, navigate to the lower left Course Management area, and click Customization > Properties > then scroll down to Set Availability , and change Make Course Available to Yes , and click the Submit (green) button in the lower right. The course will now be visible and accessible to students in your course. Course Roles Instructor - provides access to all areas of the course including the control panel for posting content, making users available/unavailable, posting grades, and making the course available/unavailable. Teaching Assistant - provides access to everything included with the instructor role, except changing a users availability. Course Builder - provides access to everything included with the instructor role, except changing roles of users, and Grade Center. Grader - provides access to the course Grade Center to post grades. Student - provides access to all areas of the course, excluding the control panel. Guest - provides access to areas in the course designated by the instructor, excluding the control panel, and is unable to view student interactions or post to blogs, wikis, or discussion board. Course Archival, Removal & Retention Course Archiving - Archives (a complete copy of the course, including student interactions) of all semester-based courses are made at the end of the semester, the day after grades are due. Instructors can also create an archive of their course and save it for record retention. Instructions are available in the Blackboard manual and in the Faculty Resource Site>Blackboard>Course Tips>Semester Checklists>End of Semester Checklist. Course Availability - Fall and Spring semester-based courses are made unavailable two weeks after grades are due for the semester. Summer semester-based courses are made unavailable three weeks after grades are due for the semester. Instructors for the course can make the course available again, as needed. Course Removal - Courses are removed from the Blackboard system two years and one semester after the course was taught. Email notices are sent to instructor advising of the date for course removal, including the option for the instructor to retain the course for a longer period. If instructors choose to keep their course(s) on the Bb system longer, they can email blackboard@UND.edu with their information.
